Lift Mechanic
The position of Lift Mechanic is a full time seasonal position with a significant amount of responsibility attached. Lift mechanics install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment as well as assist lift operations with daily operations including start up and shut down of the lifts. They also read diagrams and manufacturers manuals and perform mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. They work at great heights, in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night.
MAIN DUTIES
Lift Maintenance
• Perform all duties assigned by Lift Maintenance Manager and Lead Hand
• Ensure all lifts are maintained to CSA Z-98 code and manufacturers recommendations
• Implement all maintenance activities, preventative and repairs while optimizing production within safety, environmental and company mandates
• Report and rectify any unsafe situations
• Maintain, maximize and document all lifts using service records binders
Emergency Procedures
• Knows procedures for emergencies and follows instruction in emergency situations
Other
• Follows all procedures as described in the Employee Handbook
• Maintains a neat and efficient work area
• Takes responsibility for his/her own safety and reports unsafe conditions to their Supervisor
• Follows new procedures as required
• Assists and supports all other Cypress Mountain staff in the performance of their job duties
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Courteous towards co-workers and Guests
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Working outside in all weather conditions
• Working at heights on lift towers
• Work on multiple chair lifts, requiring ability to operate snowmobile (training provided)
• Shift work is required, days and evenings, seven days a week
• Some shifts may be on an on call basis and contingent on snow and weather conditions
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
• 1st Year Millwright Apprentice with ski area experience, or combination of previous lift operations experience with mechanical aptitude and interest in entering apprenticeship
• Ability to operate snowmobiles, 4x4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations for snow operations
• Operators certificates for associated industrial equipment an asset
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physical requirements
• Ability to remain organized and courteous when under pressure
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to change
• Valid class 5 drivers license
• Reliable transportation to and from the mountain (no public transit access)

SKI/SNOWBOARD INSTRUCTOR:
Supervise and instruct
classes on the ski hill as well as assist with School events and
operations. Must have CSIA/CASI level 1 certification or equivalent.
Individuals with Level 2 and/or dual certification will be given
preference.

LIFT OPERATIONS STAFF COORDINATOR
The staffing coordinator is responsible for maintaining an organized staff roster. The main responsibility is to ensure that lifts are staffed as needed.
MAIN DUTIES
• Scheduling lift operators to ensure lifts are staffed as needed. During peak season this can be approx. 50 people, both full and part time
• Accurate record keeping of all employees
• Completing employee starter packages
• Interviewing potential lift operators
• Assigning daily staff to lift stations
• Assisting with training of lift operators
• Review and/or edit employee payroll hours worked
• Sets a positive example for others to follow
• Ensures that appropriate paperwork is completed to standard
• Has thorough knowledge of Company and Department policies, as stated in the Employee Handbook, Personnel Policy, Procedures Manual and Department Manual
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and computer skills
• Previous chairlift/mountain experience a strong asset, but not required
• Previous supervisory experience an asset
• Must have reliable transportation (Cypress Mountain shuttle is not an option)
• Ability to remain organized and courteous when under pressure
• Ability to adapt to change
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Works primarily inside in an office environment shared with other employees. Some outdoor work may be required when all other duties are completed
• Shift work is required, days and evenings, including weekends (ideal shift Wed – Sun 6:30am to 3:30pm)
• Overtime may be required (must be approved)
